ABOUT THIS PAINTING
This is the fourth piece from a small series of paintings that all begin with the same simple shape. It is basically a circle with a line coming down from the center. The line down the center is the same width as the circle. This simple shape is the core building block to the architecture of the face. I decided to run with it and see where it leads.

From that point, there the idea is to search for the design space between simple and complex. I suppose the better word is “balance.” Can you balance an idea between simple and complex. Here is the fourth attempt.
