ABOUT THIS PAINTING
Growing up in a Catholic household, I was often exposed to religious art and iconography. I have always loved the symbolism and flat look found in religious iconographic work. It is powerful enough to move people to life-long devotion. Heck, some days, I may even say that this type of art has been my biggest creative influence.

It is with that idea that I decided to release this painting from 2014 as a print. It is one of my personal favorites as it ties a number of different facets of my personal life together in this one painting. It also underscores a theme I revisit over and over and over. You must always assess and reassess the world and our place in it. Take something familiar and attempt to look at it from a different perspective. You may just discover something new that transforms you into something that you weren’t yesterday.
